“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Lukewarm, complacent, staying inside my comfort zone. That is how I describe my early Christian life. I wasn’t necessarily a bad person. In fact, others thought that I was the “good Christian kid”. But I wasn’t in love with Jesus. I loved what He did for me, and that I would be able to spend eternity in heaven because I believed upon Him as my Savior, but our relationship didn’t go much beyond that.
But I felt miserable. I knew that God had something else for me out there, but I was too scared to ask Him what it was. Finally, I surrendered. I heard the calling. There was no doubt. I had no excuses. It was either follow Jesus or not. I finally decided to take up my cross. I haven’t regretted that decision since.
Since I was a young girl I have had a heart for missions and telling others about Jesus. I went on several short-term mission trips to fill this void in my heart but solely for selfish reasons. This all changed when I went to Guatemala the summer of 2013. This mission trip was different. For the first time I gave my entire life to Jesus. I surrendered my family and friends, my plans, my desire for comfort; I laid everything at His feet. I told Him I would go wherever and whenever He wanted me to. This prayer changed my life.
Shortly after my arrival in Guatemala I got to know three Mountain Gateway missionaries who were learning Spanish. Their love for the Lord shone through with their every breath. One night while worshiping with them, Jesus told me that I was to be a part of Mountain Gateway. I said, “Yes, Jesus, I would love to be your servant. I will go!”

We met at a Spanish school in Guatemala. How the Lord brought us together in a world so far from our own amazes us. It also shows how God takes care of those who say “yes!”, and follow Him. It encourages us to know that if we’re in the center of God’s will, that He will bless us in ways that we could never imagine. Seeing how God has worked in our lives so far has given us a lot of excitement to see what He has in store for us in the future! Tybee Joy was added to our family in December of 2015. She has lived up to her name and brought Joy to us all!
We are currently serving in Mexico and will be there for the foreseeable future. We have seen many souls saved there, and many people healed in the name of Jesus! We are happy to see all that has happened, but are not content! We are praying for more and more!
